Woman found dead in North Freeway motel room, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was found dead in a motel room in north Houston on Saturday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said officers responded to the motel, located in the 6100 block of the North Freeway, at about 11 a.m. Authorities said that Houston Fire Department paramedics also responded to the scene, where they pronounced the woman dead.

According to investigators, the incident was initially reported by a man who said he was a friend of the victim. The man told officers that when he woke up at about 7 a.m., he found the woman unresponsive. Police said he then asked motel employees to call 911 at about 10 a.m. Officers said that he reported last seeing the woman alive at about 9 p.m. the previous night.

Officials said the investigation into the woman's death is pending the cause of death, which will be determined by autopsy.
